Node.js · Backend runtime

Node.js development for APIs and real-time backends.

Typed, tested backend services that share a language with your front end, which removes a whole class of integration bugs and lets one team own a feature end to end.

What we build

What we build with Node.js.

  1. REST and GraphQL APIs

Versioned, documented APIs with validation, authentication and rate limiting.

  2. Real-time services

WebSocket and server-sent event services for collaboration, messaging and live dashboards.

  3. Background processing

Queues and scheduled jobs for email, exports, webhooks and long-running tasks.

  4. Integration layers

Services that sit between your product and payment, CRM, ERP or logistics providers.

The difference

When Node.js is the right call.

No tool fits everything. We would rather tell you now than halfway through the build.

Consider something else

  • CPU-bound number crunching and data science workloads
  • Machine-learning pipelines better served by Python

A strong fit

  • APIs serving web and mobile clients
  • Real-time features: chat, notifications, live updates
  • Integration-heavy backends calling many third-party services
  • Teams that want one language across the stack

How we use it

Practices we hold ourselves to.

Knowing a framework is the easy part. These are the habits that keep a codebase healthy after a year of changes.

  1. Validate at the edge

Every request and third-party response checked against a schema before it reaches business logic.

  2. Idempotent by design

Retries, duplicate webhooks and partial failures handled explicitly, especially where money is involved.

  3. Observable in production

Structured logs, traces and metrics from the first deployment, so problems can be diagnosed quickly.

  4. Database changes that are safe

Reviewed, reversible migrations designed to run without downtime.

FAQ

Node.js: common questions.

Node.js or Python for our backend?

Node.js for API-centric products, real-time features and teams already working in TypeScript. Python where data processing or machine learning is central. Many of our projects use both, each where it fits.

Can Node.js handle high traffic?

Yes. It handles concurrent I/O very well. Scaling comes down to sound database design, caching and horizontal scaling, which we plan for.

Do you use a framework?

Usually NestJS for larger services that benefit from structure, and Fastify for smaller ones. We adapt to what your team already runs.

Can you modernise an older Node.js or Express app?

Yes, typically by adding TypeScript, tests and validation incrementally, then upgrading the runtime and dependencies behind that safety net.
